Texas Watchdog got a mention last week from Lindsay Beyerstein, one of our favorite journalists on the national scene. She writes for her blog Majikthise, and is, this week, in Denver covering the Democratic National Convention for firedoglake's Campaign Silo.
I was in Denver for five or six years as a reporter for the Denver Post, so I hope she’ll take this bit of advice… Check out Williams, which is my favorite bar in the Mile High City. (It’s close to downtown and the Capitol, on 17th, between Logan and Pennsylvania.) Tell the folks I said hello and have a vodka tonic. Put it on my tab. (Which, may, in fact, be still open, since I skipped town pretty quickly.)
Anyhow, Lindsay’s been following and breaking news on the Stephen Payne story – the tale of a major fundraiser for President Bush was caught by The Times of London on video apparently selling access to top White House officials.
We broke a bit of news about Payne ourselves last week and wanted to say thanks to her for the mention of our findings on her blog.
She also reported back to us on some news that she unearthed: That the House Oversight Committee, which is investigating the Payne affair, has been to our website and seen the documents we obtained, which show that the relationship between Payne and the President might not be as distant as the White House would have you believe.
