Dallas County: Flagged voters can vote

Dallas County's elections chief was quoted Thursday by the Dallas Morning News, criticizing our recent investigation that found more than 6,000 voters on the county rolls who may be dead.

One of elections administrator Bruce Sherbet's points was that many of those voters wouldn't be able to show up and vote because they had been flagged in the system as having outdated address information.
Other names are more difficult to confirm and in many cases are placed "in suspense," leaving them technically on the voter rolls but without permission to vote, Mr. Sherbet said.

The problem is, we just talked again to his deputy -- who says that's not correct: Those people can vote.

"They're in suspense. They're eligible to vote," said Danny Clayton, Dallas County's supervisor of voter registration. He's right, according to Chapter 15.112 of the Texas Election Code.

We blogged about such "suspended" voters here on Thursday morning.

Book publishing isn't nimble. Just as in 2004, I have to print out & mail them 2 copies of double-spaced manuscript, weighing many lbs. :(

Some U.S. church employers also don't provide unemployment benefits. The church lays you off, you get no $ but you do get prayers. #whoknew
