Officials in Smith County plan to sue the state attorney general rather than make public plans and schematics for the county jail that were requested under the Texas Public Information Act, the Tyler Morning Call reports. The Commissioners Court voted unanimously Monday night to try to block the attempt by local politico Ken Good to gain access to the schematics and all other jail plans; the commissioners had asked the AG for a ruling on the issue, and the AG sided with Good. Good says he wants to see the documents because he believes county officials have violated the state open meetings law.

It looks as though this is going to be a bitter feud, and it could last long after the smoke clears from the battle over the ballot box. Win or lose on the jail vote itself, this could be a really stick mess that outlasts the election!
