Kwame Kilpatrick, the disgraced ex-mayor of Detroit who pleaded guilty to a pair of felonies last year, was spotted back in the Motor City after a brief visit to Dallas where he interviewed for a job. His mom, Congressman Carolyn Kilpatrick, had leased a private a jet for her son to fly in style to the Big D. No one is talking about if the interview was successful or what the job would be, but speculation has centered on a broadcasting or lobbying position.
Last month, Kilpatrick completed a 99-day jail term after pleading guilty to assault and obstruction of justice charges. The ex-mayor's woes intensified after the Detroit Free Press fought to obtain thousands of text messages Kilpatrick sent to his chief of staff, Christine Beatty, who also doubled up as his mistress. The paper also learned that the mayor used city dollars to arrange their romantic getaways, making their private affair a very public matter.
The Detroit News reported that over the last few days, the porky politico was seen in Texas driving a Chevy Suburban -- at least he still supports the Motor City -- with Colorado plates. As Kilpatrick drove away, with his family in toe, his wife snapped photos of reporters and photographers. She might want to train the lens instead on her husband.

“His mom, Congressman Carolyn Kilpatrick” Does that mean she is transgendered, or did you just make another mistake. I think it is adorable how you think that rewriting other people’s reporting, is original investigative journalism. You should just call your blog, “Stuff you already read in the Houston Chronicle and Dallas Morning News on Sunday but I am giving you the cliff notes version three days later and pretending like this is new stuff!” |
