Dallas state Rep. Terri Hodge, who was indicted in 2007 on 14 felony counts of bribery and public corruption charges, may have kept her spot on the criminal jurisprudence committee.
FrontBurner's Tim Rogers heard she will keep her old assignment, despite facing allegations that, if found to be true, could send her to prison.
The Democratic legislator's woes began when CBS 11 TV in Dallas discovered that she lived in one of developer Brian Potashnik's apartment buildings--even though she owned a $200,000 home--after she helped award him lucrative tax credits. And she didn't just live there like you or I might. Potashnik slashed her rent.
That report clearly alerted feds who claim in their indictment that Hodge had accepted a reduced rent and lower utility bills from Potashnik as gratitude for her support.
Could Hodge's committee pursue new and innovative criminal justice reforms? Legalizing bribery comes to mind.
