Governor following law and protocol in requiring written public records requests: Gov's press office

By Jennifer Peebles
We wanted to share an objection that the governor's press office raised to one of our posts from Wednesday.

At the beginning of this month, we had blogged about a story done by the Associated Press about how some of the private businesses hired by the state to clean up after Hurricane Ike still had not been paid. The AP had asked the governor's office for the list of all the cleanup vendors, and the governor's office told the AP they had to file a written open records request.

The governor's office said yesterday that having people file a request letter is part of their protocol, and they're just following the state law.
