One week after Dallas Mayor Tom Leppert pleaded with legislators to establish a new law school in Dallas, a venture that would cost the state around $40 million, he is now "asking Austin to stay out of Dallas' wallet."
Christy Hoppe, with the Dallas Morning News' Trailblazers blog, says Leppert lectured members of the House Urban Affairs Committee about keeping their distance from Dallas coffers.
"Stop funding the state budget through our cities."
Of course, the mayor doesn't have a problem funding city projects through the state and feds. In addition to asking the legislature to fund a start-up law school, Leppert is also scrambling to find an extra, oh, billion or so dollars to pay for the wildly over-budget toll road, slated to be built between the weakening and unacceptable levees of the Trinity River.
Dallas Mayor Tom Leppert wants Austin to butt out...except when he doesn't.
