The Brownsville Herald, through the Texas Public Information Act, has some of the details of Mayor Pat Ahumada's trip to Tampico -- like the cost of the private jet he chartered -- though two other men on the trip with him won't talk about it, the newspaper reports. The probe comes less than a month after Ahumada's indictment on charges that he deposited a $26,000 check from a city vendor into his own bank account.

The two cases (the check indictment and the travel investigation) are only related in that he wasn't removed from office by the indictment so it appears now the hunt is on for another way to get him kicked out. I seriously doubt the travel investigation will turn up any wrongdoing. |
