Sunshine Review, a wiki on government transparency issues, has reached quite a milestone: It has finished reviewing and ranking every county Web site in all 50 states on a 10-point transparency checklist. That’s 3,140 counties.
How did we do? As a group, Texas’ county Web sites landed in about the middle of the national pack: Texas ranked 28th, right above Louisiana and right above South Dakota. (Harris County, for one, got a nine out of 10 score.)
Because it’s a wiki, anyone can not only read Sunshine Review but also write and edit for it – so, if you see something that’s missing, add it! I’ve been writing and adding a bit myself lately – look for me at the signon of jlpeebles.
