Texas Watchdog would like to thank the Society of Professional Journalists' Fort Worth Professional Chapter for honoring our Jennifer Peebles with its prestigious Open Doors Award.

The photo above is Jennifer, holding her award, with Eddye Gallagher, president of the SPJ Fort Worth Pro Chapter.

Jennifer was honored with the SPJ Fort Worth's top award on Friday for her work in making government records more accessible to the public.

The Society of Professional Journalists' Fort Worth Professional Chapter gives out its Open Doors Award each year in recognition of work to further the cause of open government in Texas.

This year's award was given out on April 17 -- the 100th anniversary of the founding of SPJ as Sigma Delta Chi on the campus of DePauw University in Indiana. Today, SPJ is the nation's largest organization for journalists.

Jennifer is a longtime member of SPJ, so this was particularly moving for us.

Thank you, SPJ.
