Who should prosecute crimes of public corruption?

Perhaps you read yesterday's story by Matt Pulle outlining plans in some GOP quarters to diminish the power of the historically Democrat district attorney's office in Travis County. That office prosecutes lawmakers accused of taking bribes or otherwise violating the public trust and the law.

Should that power stay with the DA's office in Austin? Or should another public lawyer, like the DA in the lawmaker's home county, take on that role?
