The Freedom of Information Foundation of Texas is holding its 2009 state conference Friday, and Texas Watchdog Deputy Editor Jennifer Peebles will be in attendance. Peebles was named to the board of directors earlier this year.

The foundation is a major supporter of open government in Texas. The group advocates against laws that would hamper access to public information, provides a Web site of resources including a sample public information request letter, and also sponsors a legal hotline for anyone who's having trouble getting into an open meeting or getting public records.

To learn more about the foundation's work, check out their Web site or this profile Texas Watchdog published earlier this year of the group's new executive director. They're also on Twitter (@TxFOIFT) and Facebook.

If you can't attend the conference, you can follow @texaswatchdog on Twitter, where Jennifer will be updating the goings-on tomorrow.

When WH surrogates like Lew go out on the talk shows and deliberately misspeak on Congressional rules, it's why no one listens to them.
