There are some cool sites on the Web that let you look up who's lobbying who in DC, but here's something completely fresh and new: It's a new site that lets you look up which foreign governments, agencies and entities are lobbying members of Congress.
The new site is a joint project of Pro Publica and the Sunlight Foundation, who pair their searchable database of records filed through the Foreign Agent Registration Act with a story that calls attention to the work of one-time House Speaker hopeful Robert Livingston, the Louisiana Republican, who is raking in the dough representing clients like the governments of Libya, Egypt and Azerbaijan.
Among the Texas peeps on the Hill who were hit up by Livingston's firm: U.S. Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison's office and U.S. Rep. Solomon Ortiz's people heard from them on behalf of the Azerbaijanis, and U.S. Rep. John Culberson heard from them on behalf of the Egyptian government. Check out the http://foreignlobbying.org site to see foreign groups' contacts with other Texans, including U.S. Sen. John Cornyn and Houston's U.S. Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee.
