Appointments on the calendar of Houston Airport System executive Saba Abashawl regarding Norway, from late 2007 to early 2009. Dec. 4, 2007: Attends lunchtime meeting of Norwegian American Chamber of Commerce at Houston Country Club
Jan. 20, 2008: Stavanger's Mayor Leif Johan Sevland arrives in Houston on KLM 663
Jan. 22, 2008: Attends "courtesy visit" with Stavanger mayor "re: invitation to MBW [Mayor Bill White] for prominent role at ONS in Stavanger, Norway," referring to the Offshore Northern Seas oil-and-gas conference in August 2008. This meeting was to be held in either the proclamation room or the mayor's office in City Hall. (Mayor Sevland leaves Houston on Jan. 24.)
March 21, 2008: Stavanger's Mayor Sevland arrives at Bush Intercontinental on Continental Flight 1765 from Cancun, Mexico, and leaves later that afternoon on a Lufthansa flight to Frankfurt, Germany.
Aug. 18, 2008: Appointment regarding coordination of White's visit to Stavanger for the Offshore Northern Seas conference.
June 20, 2008: Meets with Cari Broderson of the Greater Houston Partnership and Ed Dramberger of the Greater Houston Convention and Visitors Bureau regarding the Houston Pavilion at the upcoming Offshore Northern Seas oil-and-gas conference in Stavanger.
July 7, 2008: Conference call regarding Houston's participation in the Offshore Northern Seas conference. Some Norwegian officials are on the call.
Oct. 22, 2008: Meets 11 a.m.-noon with Consul General Lasse Seim at the Royal Norwegian Consultate General in Houston
Oct. 31-Nov. 1, 2008: Flies to Stavanger; flies out on Nov. 4 to Aberdeen, Scotland, for the World Energy Cities Partnership meeting there.
Jan. 26, 2009: Attends an evening reception hosted by Lasse Seim, Norway's consul general in Houston.
Jan. 29, 2009: A group from Norway departs Bush Intercontinental airport, including Stavanger's Mayor Sevland; Elin Schanche, managing director of Greater Stavanger Economic Development; Trygve Brekke, international director for Greater Stavanger Economic Development, and Aina Berg, an executive with the International Institute of Stavanger; Bjorn Vidar Leroen, a journalist who has written about Norway's StatOil.
March 23, 2009: Robin Martin Kass, Norwegian deputy minister for petroleum and energy, arrives at Bush Intercontinental on Continental Flight 47. Kass is also met by Consul General Seim.
April 30, 2009: Mayor Sevland of Stavanger arrives at Bush airport.
May 2, 2009: Welcome reception for Norwegian delegation at the Westin Oaks
May 4, 2009: Abashawl attends an evening reception hosted by Norwegian Consul General Lasse Seim honoring His Excellency Mr. Wegger Chr. Strommen, the Norwegian ambassador, at 1024 Rocky River Road.
