Did Pam Holm inflate her job title in ads for city controller's race?

After being smacked with the outing of a $120,000 federal tax lien, city controller candidate Ronald C. Green's campaign has responded with documents indicating that one of his foes in the election, Pam Holm, is being disingenuous in a campaign promotion.

At issue is Holm’s assertion in print ads and in a radio spot that she served as a “compliance analyst” for a multi-million dollar investment firm.

According to documents filed with the federal Securities and Exchange Commission in 1999 and 2000, Holm’s title was “compliance assistant.”

“To be sure, there is no shame in being an assistant, administrative or otherwise, but it is most certainly not the same as being an analyst, particularly in an investment securities environment which requires specific licensing,” Green campaign consultant Keir Murray said in an e-mail. “I won't speculate as to why Ms. Holm may have found it necessary to artificially inflate her professional experience and credentials, but she appears to have done so.”

Holm’s campaign acknowledged that District G councilwoman was not licensed for anything but said that she did not need a license for her position.

"... After working at the firm, she moved into a position that they call 'compliance analyst'," said Bethel Nathan, Holm's campaign manager. "We're just into a matter of words here. She has not held herself out to be a chief executive officer, nothing other than what she was. It's a matter of semantics."

Holm and Green are being challenged in the Nov. 3 election by fellow City Councilman M.J. Khan, who Texas Watchdog reported earlier this month may not live inside the city limits of Houston.

As a previosly registered Investment representative (series 7 and series 66) i have worked with many compliance analyst. They must be licensed to perform their job. Mrs. Holm's is using her prior position title to reprsent herself as something that she was not. I challenge Pam to give us her job description. She is unqualified to be controller because she would be unable to determine if the projections the financial analyst make are flawed or not because she does not understand advanced finance concepts. Having a master of finance myself I have an indepth knowledge of what Mrs. Holm lacks.

She also listed herself on her website of being the CEO of an important sounding group or company. After googling it - found out it was the bandit sign group! Also didnt list her education except that she dated her husband in college - and she wants to be "controller" of the nations most important city
