The race for mayor of Houston is at full boil, and Texas Watchdog has the details on where the candidates get their money -- only this time, we're not talking about their campaign cash. We're talking about their jobs, their investments, the businesses they own, and the money they normally bring home to their families and households.

We've got the 2009 personal financial statements for all the candidates for mayor. The complete list:

City Councilman Peter Brown (Part 1 of form / Part 2 of form)
Charles "Dan" Cupp, retired elevator mechanic
Former City Attorney Gene Locke
Education Trustee Roy Morales
City Controller Annise Parker
Amanda Ulman, the Socialist candidate
Luis Ralph Ullrich, Jr., plumbing contractor

One note: Cupp filed his most recent federal income tax return as an addendum to his financial statement (he filed jointly with his wife, Aneta). We went through and blacked out their Social Security numbers, PINs and bank account numbers, so when you see black boxes over some of the text in that PDF, that's our handiwork.

I guess there's some exemption for Peter Brown's wife, since he didn't have to disclose anything about her?

JJMB, Yes, there is an exemption that covers Councilman Brown's wife -- we wrote about it in a recent story at this link. Welcome to the site, and thank you for posting here. :) Take care, Jennifer P. jennifer@texaswatchdog.org .
