If you haven't heard already, there's more talk today that there's a new face in the race for Texas governor, and it looks a whole lot like Houston Mayor Bill White.
That's the word from Chron.com as well as the Texas Tribune, with the word attributed in both cases to unnamed sources. Both are saying that Tom Schieffer is dropping out of the Democratic primary and will back White, who is likely to take on the winner of the war raging between Gov. Rick Perry and U.S. Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison on the Republican side.
In case you've got a hankering to find out a bit more about the new guy in the race, Texas Watchdog has White's city ethics forms for 2009 (in three parts -- Part 1, Part 2 and Part 3) as well as his form for 2008.
You can also find out who has given money to his past campaigns for mayor of Houston, which is on the city secretary's Web site (search for last name of "White" or by the first name/last name combination of "William White").
We also posted some of White's e-mail correspondence a while back, specifically dealing with one issue, a controversial development here in Houston.
