You may have noticed a familiar name in the many bylines filing from Fort Hood, Texas this weekend. Texas Watchdog's Steve Miller was tapped by the Washington Times to file stories about the killing rampage there for the Times' national desk.

Steve is back in Houston today, though, sifting through records and knocking on doors for the next Texas Watchdog story.

Also, we'd like to let readers know that Steve is the recipient of a very prestigious journalism honor. Steve has won a Carnegie/Newhouse School Legal Reporting Fellowship.

This program awards only four fellowships per year, and Steve made the grade. The fellowship provides a $3,000 stipend, plus other benefits, for journalists examining some aspect of the American legal system.

Congrats, Steve.
