Texas Watchdog has created interactive charts for both of the Houston mayoral candidates showing a sampling of their connections -- this one is for former City Attorney Gene Locke. By holding your mouse over the various icons on the chart, you can see some of Locke's family ties, property he and his family own, some of the government entities he's done legal work for, some of the organizations and unions that have endorsed him in this election, and some of his prominent backers and major campaign donors. Click here to see the chart for his competitor in the Dec. 12 election, City Controller Annise Parker.

Texas Watchdog created the charts for both candidates using their annual ethics forms, campaign finance reports, reports in the major Houston media and other public records. Footnotes for each chart offer specific citations.

Some of the photographs used in the interactive graphic were used via the Creative Commons license and were taken by these flickr users: Minute Maid Park photo by clockwerks; Toyota Center photo by atxryan; Reliant Stadium photo by eschipul; Houston police officer photo by euthman.
