The service PolitiFact --- which was launched by the St. Petersburg (Fla.) Times to vet the accuracy of politicians' claims --- is expanding to Texas in partnership with the Austin American-Statesman.
The announcement says PolitiFact Texas will be keeping an especially close eye on the claims made in the 2010 elections.

** There’s good news today for anyone in Texas interested in holding politicians accountable for the vagaries, truth-benders and outright whoppers that get thrown around on the campaign trail. ** Not really. I see way too many examples of Politifact "checking" issues with the same biases/assumptions as so many left-of-center, MSM journos -- but of course with that "above it all/objective" veneer that is so off-putting about mainstream American journalism (off putting because it's simply not believable/sustainable for intelligent people). Give me some smart, informed, motivated bloggers (left or right, doesn't matter) ANY DAY over "objective" MSM journos from Politifact or from the AAS, thanks! |
