State auditors criticized the Pasadena and Alvin Independent School Districts in Texas for improperly calculating and reporting the number of jobs created or saved with federal stimulus funds.
In what State Auditor John Keel has promised will be an ongoing series of audits of American Recovery and Reinvestment Act spending in Texas, the audit found that Pasadena ISD reported to the Texas Education Association that it had created or saved 100 jobs using stimulus funding when auditors calculated that 69.76 jobs had been preserved or created. Alvin ISD reported creating or saving 3.57 jobs, when state auditors figured the number at 3.36 jobs, according to the report.
In this economy, is .76 job or .36 job better than .00 job?
