The Texas Watchdog government transparency road show is on the road yet again.
Tonight, our Trent Seibert will be speaking to the King Street Patriots here in Houston about open records, open government, and how to use open government laws to help keep an eye on City Hall and other corridors of power.
Not long ago Trent and I also took the road show to the University of Houston, where we were guests of Prof. Carroll Blue's "History of the Future" graduate seminar, talking about how historians can employ public records as part of their research techniques.
And Texas Watchdog has also held some blogger "meetups" where we've talked about citizen-journalism and public records issues with bloggers from all across the Houston area.
Our next stop? Well, we hope it's to see you! Texas Watchdog has a standing offer to pay a visit to any group in Texas that wants to learn more about public records, citizen-journalism and what you, or your group, can do to keep an eye on government. Community activists, neighborhood groups, good-government folks, political groups, whoever, you call, we'll talk. We think everyone from every political perspective is served by knowing more about how to get information from government. In the end, it benefits everyone.
So call us now. Time/Life operators aren't standing by, but you can leave us a voicemail if we're not in: 713-980-9777 or news@texaswatchdog.org. We're also on Twitter at @texaswatchdog.org.
