The case was filed after voters swept out the incumbents in an election to name members of a road utility district board in The Woodlands last month. The voters pushed through their candidates by organizing as a group to claim residence for voting purposes at a hotel, the Residence Inn at 9333 Six Pines Drive. The challengers beat the incumbents by a 10-2 margin.

This morning, the court heard opening statements from both sides, and the plaintiffs' attorney introduced as evidence photos of homes of the voters who registered to the hotel, a move to apparently underscore the point that the voters don't live at the hotel.
