Houston Mayor Annise Parker was in charge of the city’s finances as city controller in mid-2008 when she committed an “oversight” in one of her campaign filings -- a slipup which will cost her a couple C-notes.

The Texas Ethics Commission today announced she was guilty of two infractions alleged in a complaint: omitting $1,630 in small expenses -- Parker told the commission her campaign mistakenly left out a portion of the report -- and incorrectly describing an $85 event sponsorship expense.

The commission fined Parker $200. The commission determined that several other allegations had no merit.

Her office said the violation was an oversight.

"The complaint was lodged during the mayoral campaign concerning a finance report from her term as controller," said mayoral spokeswoman Janice Evans. "The commission found everything baseless except for one thing. ... The fine has been paid."
