The state Ethics Commission this morning said it was fining Gov. Rick Perry a total of $1,500 for failing to disclose between $7,000 and $29,995 in rental property income he earned in 2009 and 2010.

The Commission dismissed a similar complaint for 2008 because more than two years had elapsed before the complaint was filed.

According to the rulings released today, the Commission said Perry failed to disclose four sources of rental, interest, dividends and royalties in 2010 and one from the year before on the financial disclosure forms required for elected officials by the state.

Perry failed to include the names of two financial institutions holding notes on Perry’s rental properties and the names of two other people with an interest in his properties in 2009 and 2010, according to the Ethics Commission ruling.

"This was an inadvertent error, and as soon as it was realized, the governor’s personal financial statement was amended to include those items," Katherine Cesinger, the governor's press secretary, said Wednesday. "The Commission has since assessed a fine, which has been paid."

The Ethics Commission confirmed that Perry had made the appropriate corrections.
