Texas Watchdog wants to know if you watch the Houston school district's TV channel. If so, what programs do you watch? If not, why not? Did you know that the school district had a cable TV channel?

Two board members have TV shows: President Paula Harris and Manuel Rodriguez. Have you ever watched their programs? What do you think of them?

Are there other programs you would like to see on HISD TV? Like what?

What do you think about the district having a TV channel in general? Is that helpful for students and parents? Why or why not?

We'd love to hear your thoughts on these questions – and any others on Houston schools' television programming.

I find it interesting that HISD has a cable channel when so much of the student population lives below the poverty level. The same district serving breakfast in the classroom to even the playing field is offering educational and instructive programing only to those able to pay a cable bill? Just one more piece of evidence that the power players in the district are disconnected from the realities of the students.

I have to admit that I have watched for a moment the HISD channel while at the gym flipping through the channels. it's better than the HCC channel.

I am not in the HISD area but am in city of Houston and thus my cable system apparently has to carry this drek. There is zero need for such waste of resources.

As someone that works for a fellow PEG channel let me explain the HISD channel.

This channel was given to them for free by Comcast along with a percentage of each cable bill. hiss doesn't pay for the channel and it is entirely self funded. You can research more about PEG channels online.

Oh btw. You rock HISD TV!
