It is said that good things come to those who wait.

More than a year after their questionable ethics became public, two Texans, Eddie Bernice Johnson and Joe Barton, were given dishonorable mention on a list of the 19 most corrupt members of Congress.

Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington, a left-leaning nonprofit government watchdog group, has compiled the list annually since 2005. The list includes 12 Republicans and seven Democrats.

The group’s goal in compiling the list:
It encompasses public officials who fail to act responsibly and ethically, and who instead place personal or special interests before those of the public. As always, members on this year’s list have abused their positions to benefit themselves, their families, and other associates.
Johnson, a Dallas Democrat, earned her honor, which apparently did not rise to CREW’s level of full-blown corruption, for giving $32,146 in scholarships to seven people connected in some way to her.

After the connections were revealed in August of 2010, Johnson repaid the money and helped start a screening panel for the scholarships.

Barton, an Arlington Republican, earned almost $100,000 from an interest in gas wells sold to him by a campaign donor who gave him policy advice while he served on the House Committee on Energy and Commerce.

Barton, also unable to make the corruption A List, insisted at the time the deal posed no conflict of interest.

Surprise, surprise!

Uber-greedy and monstrously stupid Republican Joe Barton makes Congress' dishonorable list!!!

And yet all the "little government" conservatives support and slavishly vote for this two-timing piece of Texas cowsh*t.

Texas conservatives and Barton should stay focused on controlling the BCS and leave the really important issues to Texans who actually possess brains.
