While Killeen voters removed five of the seven members of the city council last week, there is one last bit of business the departing crew is intent on getting done.

The Killeen Daily Herald reports that two local developers managed to convince departing councilman and real estate appraiser Larry Cole to place an item on Thursday’s agenda that could loosen restrictions aimed at preventing flooding via curb height.

The developers, JoAnn Purser and Don Farek, are upset over a previously approved plan. And if they can’t get it on the agenda now…
Purser and Farek said the space lapse between Thursday's meeting and when a new council is seated, which possibly could be as late as May, prompted their request to Cole.

"If it wasn't put on the agenda, nothing could happen until the next council meeting," said Farek.
Cole explained that he was just doing the bidding of some pals, and "when a friend asks you to do something, you do it."

In this case, it's a friend who is also a campaign backer.

Farek has been involved in a little political donating over the past few years, and in 2008 disputed that political favors could be bought after his political action committee, HomePac, donated to Cole and a number of other winning candidates.

Also Thursday, the city is expected to canvas, or finalize, the election results.
